     Bernard Rice was born on 21 March 1867 at Hillsburgh, Digby Co, NS.4,3,5 He was the son of David Rice and Melinda Jane Chute.3 Bernard Rice married Jesse A Kempton, daughter of Isaac Kempton and Mary Ann Parker, before 1888.4,6,7 Bernard Rice died on 24 April 1943.1
     He was also known as Bernard J Rice.3 He and Jesse A Kempton resided on 10 April 1891 at Hillsburgh District, Digby Co, NS.4

Her obituary says died aged 98 which was used to calculate her birth year.2,3 She was the daughter of Charles R Rice and Irene Dunn.1 Bertha Rice died on 1 April 1963 at Eastern Kings Memorial Hospital, Wolfville, Kings Co, NS; at age 98, see her obituary opposite record 1573.1,4 She was buried at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bear River, Annapolis Co, NS.5
     She was educated at Provincial Normal School, Truro, Colchester Co, NS.6 She resided with her parents. between 1891 and 1901 at Hillsburgh District, Digby Co, NS.7,3 She was a speech therapist before 1934 at Boston Guild for the Hard of Hearing, Boston, MA.

Bessie Rice was baptized on 30 August 1863 at Saint Edwards Anglican Church, Clementsport, Annapolis Co, NS; by W M Godfrey.3 She died on 26 June 1937 at Cambridge, MA, single. The Digby Weekly Courier, 16 July 1937, says died 27 June at Allston, MA.1 She was buried on 3 September 1937 at Saint Johns Burial Ground, NS.4
     She appeared on the census of 9 April 1891 at Hillsburgh District, Digby Co, NS; with her parents.2

     Catherine Rice was baptized on 19 September 1799 at Saint George Anglican Church, Sydney, Cape Breton Co, NS; Francis and Mrs Owens were witnesses to this baptism.2 She was the daughter of Beriah Rice Jr and Catherine Owens. Catherine Rice married Robert Cranton, son of Captain Robert Cranton and Ann Stone, on 26 September 1816 at Northeast Margaree, Inverness Co, NS.1,3 Catherine Rice died on 18 June 1856 at Margaree, Inverness Co, NS.4
     Her married name was Cranton. Robert and Catherine were "among the charter members of the Congregational Church organized in 1822. The land on which the first church was built, and where the cemetery now is at Margaree Centre, was donated to the church by this fine pioneer couple."5

     Charles Henry Rice was born on 21 December 1877 at Rochester, Monroe Co, NY.1,3 He was the son of Charles Adelbert Pomeroy Rice and Mary Agnes Gannon. Charles Henry Rice married 1st Lucy Anna Little, daughter of William Little and Nancy Ann Forth, on 19 February 1896 at Lexington, Dawson Co, NE.3,4 Charles Henry Rice married 2nd Maude Josephine Avis, daughter of Edwin J Avis and Theodosia Calbreath, on 18 November 1954.5 Charles Henry Rice died on 12 March 1955 at Dunning, Blaine Co, NE.3 He was buried 14 March 1955 at Dunning Cemetery, Dunning, Blaine Co, NE.5
     He appeared on the census of 1880 at Rochester, Monroe Co, NY; aged 2y, living with his great uncle Walter Whaples.6 Ella Lauretta Rice, b 1876 and Charles Henry Rice, b 1877. Beverly Allen relates that Ella and Charles were separated when both of their parents died about 1883. Ella, Beverly's grandmother, went with Obed Rice, Ella's grandfather. Charles went with Uncle Dick (Daniel Samuel Dickenson), whose family struck out west from Rochester, NY and finally settled in Nebraska. Ella and Charles corresponded over the many years. Beverly recalls that one day in 1948 "Gram" (Ella) announced that Uncle Charlie was coming to Rochester with his daughter Pearl (Nancy Pearl Agnes) and her husband Mike McLaughlin. It had been 65 years since brother and sister were together. There was a write up and a picture in the local newspaper - it was a grand reunion!7

     Charles Oscar Rice was born on 26 July 1864 at Lake LaRose, Annapolis Co, NS.2,3 He was the son of Benjamin Rice and Eleanor Spurr. Charles Oscar Rice was baptized on 2 October 1864 at Saint Lukes Anglican Church, Annapolis Royal, Annapolis Co, NS; By Rev James J Ritchie.2 He married Ida Anderson, daughter of Joseph Anderson and Ellen (?), on 12 November 1891 at Dalhousie, Annapolis Co, NS.4 Charles Oscar Rice died on 28 June 1947 at Lake LaRose, Annapolis Co, NS.5
     There is a disagreement about the Rice ancestry of Charles Oscar Rice. The Rice Gen'l Register and Vernon Spurr have him as a son of Benjamin Rice, an Ebenezer and Anna Rice descendant. Ms McCormick has him as the son of Israel Burpee Rice, a John Rice descendant. His baptismal and marriage records shows his parents as Benjamin and Eleanor Rice.2,6,7,8,4 He resided on 6 April 1891 at Lequille District, Annapolis Co, NS, with his parents, Benjamin and Eleanor Rice.9 He and Ida Anderson resided in April 1901 at Lequille District, Annapolis Co, NS.10

     Charles S. Rice was a farmer on 20 April 1891.2 He and Ella May Littlewood resided on 20 April 1891 at Hillsburgh District, Digby Co, NS.2 Charles S. Rice and Ella May Littlewood appeared on the census of 1910 at Ward 7, Cambridge, MA; they claimed that they arrived in the US in 1888, although they appeared in the 1891 Canada census.      Charlotte Rice was born at Digby County, NS.1 She was the daughter of Capt William Rice and Sarah Ann White. Charlotte Rice married George Israel; George of Long Island (Digby Co, NS.)1 Charlotte Rice died in 1857.1

     Charlotte Ann Rice was born on 14 July 1821 at Annapolis Royal, Annapolis Co, NS.1,2 She was the daughter of James Rice and Ann Evans. Charlotte Ann Rice was baptized on 30 September 1821 at Cornwallis Methodist Circuit, NS; by John Bass Strong.3 She died after 1912 as she was mentioned in her sister Harriet's estate settlement.4
     She appeared on the census of 1881 at Annapolis Royal, Annapolis Co, NS; with her father.5 She and Harriet Alexis Rice resided on 6 April 1891 at Lequille District, Annapolis Co, NS.6 Charlotte Ann Rice and Harriet Alexis Rice resided in April 1901 at Annapolis Royal, Annapolis Co, NS.7
