     Walter Purdy was born on 10 June 1858 at Deep Brook, Clements, Annapolis Co, NS.3 He was the son of Cerano Purdy and Mary Jane Ditmars.2 Walter Purdy was baptized on 21 July 1858 at Parish of Clements, Clements, Annapolis Co, NS; by W M Godfrey, 2nd child.3 He married Harriett Clark Lent, daughter of Capt David Rice Lent and Minetta Rice, on 8 July 1884 at Saint Edwards Anglican Church, Clementsport, Annapolis Co, NS; by John Partridge.2,4,5 Walter Purdy died on 9 April 1918 at Deep Brook, Annapolis Co, NS.6 The estate was probated on 17 October 1918 at Annapolis Royal, Annapolis Co, NS; with a letter of administration to Harriet Purdy of Deep Brook, widow. Brothers: John of Deep Brook, farmer; Augustus of Deep Brook, farmer; William of Deep Brook, mechanic; Albert of Sopwill?, New Brunswick, mechanic; Robert of Bridgetown, farmer.6
     He resided in 1881 at Clementsport District, Annapolis Co, NS, with his parents.7 He and Harriett Clark Lent resided between 1891 and 1901 at Clements West District, Annapolis Co, NS.8,9 Walter Purdy was a land surveyor on 6 April 1891.8 He was a general merchant in April 1901.10

     Benjamin Belcher Reed was born on 26 February 1777 at Horton, Kings Co, NS.1 He was the son of Duncan Reed and Zerusha Post. Benjamin Belcher Reed married 2nd Sarah Rice, daughter of Beriah Rice Jr and Meriam (?), circa 1825 at All Saints Anglican Church, Granville, Annapolis Co, NS. A partial extract of the Benjamin Reed entry: "Benj Reed Married for his second wife Sarah Troop Widdow of the late Joseph Troop of Granville and the Daughter of... Rice of Annapolis and had by her Joseph Troop their son Born 17 July 1826. Sarah his Wife departed this life 26 March 1827." It is likely that Sarah was born in Annapolis County and remained there when her father moved to Cape Breton.2 Benjamin Belcher Reed died on 24 April 1860 at Annapolis Royal, Annapolis Co, NS.1

Joseph Allen Reed and Tamar Beaman published their marriage intention on 30 December 1826 at Princeton, MA; under the name Ball.4 Maj. Joseph Allen Reed married Tamar Beaman, daughter of Silas Beaman and Persis Morse Rice, on 23 January 1827 at West Boylston, MA; under the name Ball, both of Princeton.5 Maj. Joseph Allen Reed died on 3 March 1867.6

     Joseph Pierpoint Reed was born on 12 March 1829 at Princeton, MA.1,2 He was the son of Maj. Joseph Allen Reed and Tamar Beaman. Joseph Pierpoint Reed married Ann E. Eames on 18 May 1854.2 Joseph Pierpoint Reed died on 28 October 1870.2
     He enlisted in the 22nd Regiment Infantry Band in the US Civil War.2

     Joseph Troop Reed was born on 17 July 1826 at Granville, Annapolis Co, NS.1 He was the son of Benjamin Belcher Reed and Sarah Rice. Joseph Troop Reed died before 1860. 'Benj Reed Married for his second wife Sarah Troop Widdow of the late Joseph Troop of Granville and the Daughter of Rice of Annapolis and had by her Joseph Troop their son Born 17 July 1826 Sarah his Wife departed this life 26 March 1827.'
The will of Benj Reid (PANS, mf 19050, proved 5 May 1860) does not mention Joseph Troop Reed, although it does leave bequests to his sons by his first marriage and to several grandchildren. This may mean that Joseph Troop Reed predeceased his father.1

Rice, son of James Franklin Rice and Susan Hardy, on 1 January 1865 at Digby, Digby Co, NS; the marriage license stated: at the Wesleyan Parsonage: Moses Rice, age 27, bachelor, merchant, residence Hillsburgh, son of James Franklyn and Susan Rice and Josephine Read, age 21, spinster, tailoress, residence Clements, daughter of William and Esther Ann Read.5
     Josephine Reed was also known as Josephine Read.6 Her married name was Rice. She and Moses E. Rice appeared on the census of 1881 at Hessian Line District, Annapolis Co, NS; Moses E Rice, male, married, age 45, born Nova Scotia, Occ: Merchant; Josephine B Rice, female, married, age 35, born Nova Scotia; Oswald O Rice, male, age 14, born Nova Scotia; Rupert R Rice, male, age 5, born Nova Scotia; Clarrence C Rice, male, age 1, born Nova Scotia; Alice Larey, female, age 13, born Nova Scotia.7 Josephine Reed and Moses E. Rice resided between 1891 and 1901 at Bear River District, Annapolis Co, NS.8,4 Josephine Reed appeared on the census of 1911 at Bear River, Annapolis Co, NS; enumerated as widowed.9

     William Reed married Esther Ann Rice, daughter of Thomas Rice and Martha Potter; William of London, England.1 William Reed was born circa 1812 at England, Ms McCormick notes: he was of London, England.2,1 He was the son of Samuel Reed. William Reed died on 28 March 1909; age 97.2
     He was a merchant in 1869.3

     William Edwin Reed was born on 11 July 1859 at Bridgetown, Annapolis Co, NS.1,2,3 He was the son of John Bath Reed and Harriet S. Bent. William Edwin Reed married Lillian Mary Kinney, daughter of James B. Kinney and Mary Robbins, on 13 May 1885 at Yarmouth, Yarmouth Co, NS; aged 26y (he) and 25y (she) listed as William of Bridgetown and Lillian of Yarmouth.4 William Edwin Reed died on 3 August 1930 at Bridgetown, Annapolis Co, NS; aged 71y 23d, from liver cancer.2 He was buried on 5 August 1930 at Riverside Cemetery, Bridgetown, Annapolis Co, NS.2
     He was a funeral director.2
