Samuel Lowden Makeever1

     Samuel Lowden Makeever was the son of William Makeever and Charity Hard.2 Samuel Lowden Makeever married Ellen Roxanne Pitcher, daughter of Lyman Pitcher and Emily Rice, in October 1865 at Decorah, IA.1 Samuel Lowden Makeever died on 14 December 1909 at Marseilles, IL. His obituary said: Resident of Marseilles and vicinity for 50 years. Died at home on Fairview.3
     He was in the military between 1864 and 1865 where he volunteered for one year's service with the Grand Army of the Republic in the US Civil War. He served with Company E, 153rd Regiment, Illinois Infantry, first as a private then a corporal. He was discharged on 2 September at Memphis, TN.2 He was a school teacher and farmer after 1865.2 He and Ellen Roxanne Pitcher resided between 1865 and 1909 at Marseilles, IL.4
