     Sarah L. Hicks was born circa 1825.1 She was the daughter of Charles D. Hicks and Bridget Harlow.3 Sarah L. Hicks married Andrew Coggins Jr, son of Deacon Andrew Coggins and Elizabeth Rice, on 26 December 1852 at Westport, Digby Co, NS; by Rev P F Murray.1,4 Sarah L. Hicks died on 11 July 1912 at Westport, Digby Co, NS; (10th per gravestone) aged 87y, her obituary said, in part: ..."Mrs Sarah Coggins widow of Andrew Coggins passed away July 11 at the advanced age of 87 years. She had been a consistent member of the Baptist Church for a number of years .Funeral was held on Saturday attended by D.M. MacKenzie. She leaves to mourn their loss one daughter, Mrs Rupert Peters with whom she resided and nine grandchildren ..."1,5 She was buried at Hilltop Cemetery, Westport, Digby Co, NS.1
     Her married name was Coggins.1 She and Andrew Coggins Jr appeared on the census of 1881 at Westport District, Digby Co, NS; Andrew Coggins, married, male, age 57, born Nova Scotia, Occ: Mast Mariner; Sarah Coggins, married, female, age 55, born Nova Scotia; Annie Coggins, female, age 15, born Nova Scotia; Edward Hains, married, male, age 31, born Nova Scotia, Occ: Carpenter; Harriet Hains, married, female, age 27, born Nova Scotia; Ralph Hains, male, age 1, born Nova Scotia.6 Sarah L. Hicks and Andrew Coggins Jr appeared on the census of April 1891 at Westport District, Digby Co, NS.7
