William Berry was born on 3 May 1794.2 He was the son of Thomas Berry. William Berry married Elizabeth Rice, daughter of Silas Rice and Sarah Kniffen, on 30 May 1820.2 William Berry died on 8 November 1845.3
He and Elizabeth Rice resided at Bear River, Digby Co, NS, lived on the Sissiboo Road where there was only a footpath to Bear River. The history of Digby County describes Elizabeth walking to town holding the hands of her two small sons. The Sissiboo Road is on the west side of Bear River, in what is now Digby County.4,3 There is some confusion in Ms McCormick's birth dates for William and Elizabeth. In one manuscript she gives William, b Dec 25, 1794 and Elizabeth, b 1794. In the other manuscript she gives no birth date for William and Elizabeth, b July 15, 1794. The Rice Gen'l Register notes that they lived in Bear River, Digby, NS.
