     Her married name was Morton. There is a discrepancy about the wife of Elkanah Morton. Was his wife Lucy Rice (b 1743), daughter of Beriah, or Lucy Wheelock, daughter of Rachael Rice (b 1745)? Your author has chosen Lucy Wheelock as the date of her son's birth is 1793, an almost impossible date for Lucy Rice (b 1743). Note from Obadiah Wheelock's will that his daughter Lucy did marry a Morton!2

Obadiah Wheelock1

     Obadiah Wheelock was born on 7 July 1738 at Mendon, MA.2 He was the son of Obediah Wheelock and Martha Sumner. Obadiah Wheelock was baptized on 2 June 1745 at Mendon (Milford), MA.3 He and Rachel Rice published their marriage intention on 17 June 1765 at Uxbridge, MA; On p. 154, Calnek presents the 1768 census for Annapolis which lists Obadiah Wheelock with one male and three females in the household, all four Americans. We can assume that he and Rachel were married about three years before this time. While one of the females may have been Rachel's sister, Sarah, it is likely that at least one was their first daughter.4,1,5 Obadiah Wheelock died in 1806 at Annapolis Royal, Annapolis Co, NS.6
     He was appointed guardian of his younger brother Jesse after the death of their father Obediah Wheelock on 5 April 1765 at Annapolis Royal, Annapolis Co, NS.7 He resided between 1768 and 1770 at Annapolis Royal, Annapolis Co, NS.8 He left a will on 13 June 1806 at Annapolis Royal, Annapolis Co, NS, which was filed 15 Jan 1807. LWT of Obadiah Wheelock of Township of Annapolis, husbandman. Wife: Rachel. Children: Lucy Morton, Mary Wheelock, Asaph Wheelock, Calvin Wheelock, Irene Hoyt, Americus Wheelock. Witness: Jesse Hoyt.6

Son Jesse, age 16, son of Obediaih Wheelock, husbandman, deceased, selected Obediah Wheelock, gentleman of Annapolis Royal as guardian.3

     Samuel Wheelock was the son of Obadiah Wheelock and Rachel Rice. Samuel Wheelock married Ann Elizabeth Bostans on 31 December 1829 at Wilmot, Annapolis Co, NS.2 Samuel Wheelock died on 27 February 1872 at Wilmot, Annapolis Co, NS.3
     The parents and Rice ancestors of Samuel are doubtful. Your authors note that Samuel is not mentioned in Obadiah Wheelock's will. Note also that Rachel Rice was born in 1745 so Samuel would have had to be born before 1795.4 He left a will on 1 January 1872 at Wilmot, Annapolis Co, NS, which was recorded 29 Apr 1872: LWT of Samuel Wheelock of Wilmot, farmer, dated 01 Jan 1872. Wife: Ann Eliza Wheelock. Relationships not specified however he left his estate to the following: Samuel W. Barteaux, Abel W. Barteaux, Reece Goucher, G.E. Spurr and Samuel W. Baker.3

     Wesley Des Brisay Wheelock was born on 8 August 1841 at Aylesford, Kings Co, NS.1,2 He was the son of Calvin Wheelock Jr and Harriet Elizabeth Vroom. Wesley Des Brisay Wheelock married 1st Elizabeth Hubbard, daughter of Ebenezer Hubbard and Nancy Yates, before 1875.3 Wesley Des Brisay Wheelock married Jessie Fremont Pierce, daughter of Henry R. Pierce and Sophia Mayo, on 23 November 1887 at Littleton, MA; aged 46y (he) and 26y (she) both of Holliston, his second marriage.4 Wesley Des Brisay Wheelock died on 15 January 1915 at Holliston, MA; aged 73y 5m 7d, from heart failure.1 He was buried at Lake Grove Cemetery, Holliston, MA.1

     Alice Jane Whitman was born on 15 June 1858 at Lawrencetown, Annapolis Co, NS.1,2 She was the daughter of Ebenezer Rice Whitman and Susannah Beals. Alice Jane Whitman married Herbert Willard Bent, son of Stephen Edward Bent and Lucy Jane Willett, on 4 May 1880 at Middleton, Annapolis Co, NS; aged 24y (he) and 21y (she) listed as Herbert of Bentville and Alice of Lawrencetown.3 Alice Jane Whitman died on 2 February 1946 at Belleisle, Annapolis Co, NS; aged 87y 7m 18d, under the name Bent, from a heart attack.1
     Her married name was Bent.

     Annie Lowe Whitman was born on 1 January 1856.2 She was the daughter of Oldham Whitman and Margaret Lowe. Annie Lowe Whitman married Henry G. Porter on 16 May 1877.3 Annie Lowe Whitman died before February 1889 as she was not mentioned in her brother, Oldham Whitman's will although her daughter Alice was mentioned.4
     Her married name was Porter. She and Henry G. Benjamin Whitman married Anne Longley, daughter of Isaac Longley and Dorcas Bent, on 28 February 1826 at Annapolis Royal, Annapolis Co, NS; by Rev Sampson Busby.3 Benjamin Whitman died on 4 April 1891; at age 86.4 He was buried at Whitman-Cunningham Cemetery, South Williamston, Annapolis Co, NS.4

Catherine Whitman married Robert Longley, son of David Bent Longley and Mary Clark, on 4 March 1867 at Williamstown, Annapolis Co, NS.2,3 Catherine Whitman died after 1913, when her husband's will was written and before 1915, when the estate was settled.4 She was buried at Whitman-Cunningham Cemetery, South Williamston, Annapolis Co, NS.4
     Her married name was Longley. Ebenezer Rice Whitman married Susannah Beals on 8 June 1837 at Annapolis Royal, Annapolis Co, NS; by Rev G Johnston.4 Ebenezer Rice Whitman died on 9 November 1906.5 He was buried at Whitman-Cunningham Cemetery, South Williamston, Annapolis Co, NS.6

     Eliza Whitman was born on 27 August 1832 at Annapolis Royal, Annapolis Co, NS.2,3 She was the daughter of Benjamin Whitman and Anne Longley. Eliza Whitman married Caleb Beals on 6 July 1854 at Annapolis Royal, Annapolis Co, NS; by Rev M Pickle.4 Eliza Whitman died on 2 May 1909; at age 76.5 She was buried at Whitman-Cunningham Cemetery, South Williamston, Annapolis Co, NS.5
     Her married name was Beals. She and Caleb Beals appeared on the census of 1881 at Nictaux District, Annapolis Co, NS; Caleb Beals, male, age 60, born Nova Scotia, Occ: Farmer; Eliza Beals, female, age 45, born Nova Scotia; William H.
