John Scott1

M
John Scott married Hannah Duncan, daughter of Samuel Duncan and Mary (?), on 29 May 1672 at Roxbury, MA.1 Ms Holman notes: John Scott, the founder of the line of Scotts in America with which this genealogy deals, was probably not born in New England, although there is a slight chance that he is identical with a John Scott, son of Benjamin and Margaret Scott, born in Cambridge, MA, 2 July 1646, living in 1671. He was an inhabitant of Roxbury, MA before 1672, the first mention of him being his marriage record. ... There is no record of his or his wife's death, but they had evidently deceased before 1722, for in that year, John Scott (Jr), youngest son of John Scott (Sr), made his will and although unmarried, leaves no legacy to his father or mother as he would have been likely to do if they were still living.1
