Andrew White1

M, b. between 1737 and 1740, d. 1787
The White ancestry of Andrew White is uncertain. Some sources claim that Andrew was the son of John and Joanna (Sprague) White of Marshfield, MA. If this couple are his parents Andrew is a Mayflower descendant. Your authors have found no evidence that links Andres to Marshfield, MA. Until some compelling evidence for the link to Marshfield can be found, we do not claim Mayflower descendance for Andrew. Andrew White was a New England Planter from Massachusetts. He settled in Granville, Nova Scotia in 1765. Timothy and younger children were probably born in Granville.1 Andrew White was born between 1737 and 1740 at Massachusetts.1 He married Sarah Raily, daughter of Philip Raleigh and Susanna Joyner, on 19 January 1758 at Sudbury, MA.2 Andrew White and Sarah Raily lived after 1765 at Granville, Annapolis Co, Nova Scotia; New England Planters who received a grant of land in Granville, Annapolis Co, NS in 1765. Andrew White died in 1787 at Granville, Annapolis Co, Nova Scotia.3 He left a will on 5 May 1787 at Granville, Annapolis Co, Nova Scotia; which was recorded: 24 Aug 1787: LWT of Andrew White of Granville. Wife: Sarah White. Sons: John, Phillip and Andrew. Daughters: Sarah, Mary, Susannah, Easter, Elizabeth, Lois, Rebecca and Margaret. Grandson: John Boyd.3

M, b. 5 March 1846
Adoptive fatherElias Hudson b. 25 Jul 1834, d. 1910
MotherMary Ann Graham1 b. 5 Feb 1826, d. 1910
Alonzo Hudson was born on 5 March 1846 at Parkers Cove, Annapolis Co, Nova Scotia. It would seem, given his birthdate (1846) and the fact that his mother was nearly seven years older than his father, that Alonzo Hudson was not the son of Elias. He was born 11 years before his parent's marriage in 1857. He probably took the Hudson surname on Elias' marriage to his mother. In addition, Alonzo's record of marriage lists his parent(s) simply as Mary Ann.1 Laurence Patterson says: Alonzo was not likely the son of Elias Hudson but took the name Hudson on his mother's marriage.2 He appeared on the census of 1871 at New Caledonia District, Annapolis Co, Nova Scotia; In the 1871 census, Alonzo was listed as 20 years old, a farmer, a C. Baptist, and living in the New Caledonia section of Annapolis County, Nova Scotia.3 He married Ellen Rafuse, daughter of Paulus Rafuse and Mary Ann Guest, on 3 August 1874 at Bridgetown, Annapolis Co, Nova Scotia.2,4 Alonzo Hudson and Ellen Rafuse resided in 1881 at New Caledonia District, Annapolis Co, Nova Scotia. In the 1881 census, Alonzo was listed as a fisherman and a Baptist with wife Ellen, and two children (Effie 3, male child age 1 month). His age was given as 35, which is probably a mistake. They were living in the New Caledonia district of Annapolis County next to his parents, Elias and Mary Ann Hudson. Alonzo Hudson and Ellen Rafuse resided between 1891 and 1901 at Parkers Cove District, Annapolis Co, Nova Scotia. In the 1891 census, Alonzo, a cooper and a Baptist, was enumerated with wife Ellen, daughters Mary 17, Effie 13, Laura 6, and son Walter 10. Alonzo and Ellen were both listed as 39 years old. In the 1901 census, the family was living in Parkers Cove. Alonzo was listed as 55 years old, a Baptist, and a fisherman. Ellen was 50 years old. The children were: W. Walter 20, Laura 15, and Hattie 9.5,6 Alonzo Hudson was a cooper on 8 April 1891.5
